After lots of
discussion at our Eco Meetings, the committee felt that as a school, we waste a
lot of energy by leaving lights, smart boards and computers on when they are
not needed. The Eco Committee decided to
hold ‘Turn it off Tuesday’ on the 29th November, where every class
reduced the amount of energy used for one day in many ways such as keeping
blinds open and turning off lights and not using the smart board, computers,
laptops or iPads. Primary 7 went to
every class to tell them about this event, and primary 5 made lots of posters
to display around the school, and all classes took part. The children loved ‘Turn it off Tuesday’, and
we are now more aware of how much energy we use and will try to reduce this when
possible!
