A fun day at gardening club!

The pupils washed the inside and outside of the polytunnel. Then they cleaned the floor with soapy water and hosed it down. They also washed out lots of used flowerpots and then potted on some sunflowers, sprouts etc and planted some sunflower seedlings along the nursery fence.

The polytunnel is pristine thanks to all the children's hard work.

Egg Shells
We are looking for our families to collect as many
crushed egg shells as possible so we can keep the slugs from massacring the seedlings - they don't like crawling over sharp shells!
Please deposit your egg shells into the box outside Mrs McPherson’s room.

April Gardening Club Update

The Gardening Club had a very productive day. They planted three beds of potatoes, one bed of onions and covered the onion bed with netting to keep out the birds.

They then weeded at the front of the school and planted a few more lillies. Next they cleared up four of the eight new raised beds. Then the next  job was earthing up the potatoes in bags, followed by sowing peas, broad and climbing beans, nasturtium, scotch marigolds and french marigolds.
Finally they watered all the seedlings. Phew!!
